BDU Professor Honored with TANSA Award
Dr. R. Arthur James, Professor and Head of the Department of Marine Science at Bharathidasan University (BDU), has received the prestigious Tamil Nadu Scientist Award (TANSA) 2022 in Environmental Science.
This award, presented by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, is among the highest honors given to scientists in the state. It recognizes outstanding contributions and achievements in different areas of science and research.

Award ceremony was organized to honor outstanding scientists
The award was presented during a special ceremony at the Resource Centre for Tribal Development in Udhagamandalam. It includes a cash prize of ₹50,000 and a citation, reflecting the State government’s commitment to promoting scientific excellence.
The award was presented by Govi. Chezhian, the Minister for Higher Education, in the presence of M. P. Saminathan, the Minister for Tamil Development, Information, and Publicity.

According to a press release from Bharathidasan University, the award highlights Professor James’ remarkable contributions to environmental science, particularly in advancing marine research and encouraging sustainable environmental practices.
