Bajrang Setu First Cable Glass Bridge of India

India is all set to open its first-ever 132-metre cable glass bridge, Bajrang Setu, in Rishikesh. Built at an estimated cost of around ₹70 crore, this stunning structure is designed to be both an architectural marvel and a spiritual symbol. Once inaugurated, Bajrang Setu will become India’s first cable suspension bridge with a glass floor and the second of its kind in all of Asia, blending modern engineering with divine inspiration.

Creative Engineering and Modern Design

Bajrang Setu’s design beautifully blends modern engineering with spiritual symbolism. Inspired by the sanctum of the Kedarnath Temple, the bridge’s twin towers reflect the divine heritage of Uttarakhand. One tower features an image of Lord Kedarnath, while the other showcases Lord Badrinath, symbolizing the region’s deep spiritual roots. Stretching 132 metres across the Ganga, the bridge offers stunning panoramic views of the river and the surrounding landscape.

Glass Bridge and Roadway Access

The glass walkways are built with ultra-strong transparent panels, each about 65–66 mm thick, giving visitors a thrilling yet secure view of the river below. The central deck is specially designed to support two-wheelers and light four-wheel vehicles, enhancing connectivity for locals and tourists alike.

Combining strength with style, the bridge stands as a perfect example of how modern technology and traditional aesthetics can come together in harmony.
